The Use of Health
Being healthy is one of the key elements of human happiness. Health is often perceived as a state that exists naturally. However, humans must make an effort to be healthy. Health is a gift from the Creator. Not knowing how to use it in the best way possible will affect other aspects of life, like a piece that disrupts the whole. Knowing how to protect and preserve health means determining other practices that are livable.
The use of health is divided into two parts: body and soul.
To know how to use physical health, three things must be well understood. These are cleanliness, sleep, and nutrition.
Cleanliness requires the sterilization[82] of the body and environmental conditions. All measures taken in this regard are called hygiene[83].
Sleep requires that sufficient time be allocated to it and that it take place in a suitable environment. The most suitable time for healthy sleep is between 10:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. The most suitable place is where conditions are provided for the body to relax.
Nutrition requires a good understanding of food and the amounts to be consumed. When using these food substances, attention must be paid to emulsifiers[84]. Jews are behind these products. There is no information about what the mixtures in emulsifiers contain. Furthermore, there is no detailed information about them. They are found in almost every product consumed. There is no information on the product other than the letter “E” indicating the emulsifier and a number with no clear measurement unit. While knowing what one is consuming is the most natural right of people, the Jews have stripped humanity of this right. With the intention of dominating the world by taking over the food industry, the most widespread sector of consumption, the Jews discovered this mixture to prevent food from spoiling, given that food has a limited shelf life. This mixture was invented purely for commercial reasons, with the aim of making products last longer and thus gaining more profit to dominate the world in terms of power. This invention has absolutely nothing to do with health.
When it comes to determining the amount of nutrition, this is the most important factor in maintaining health and using it correctly.
Indeed, our Prophet (peace be upon him) conveyed this formula to us as follows: “We are a community that does not sit down at the table until we are hungry, and we do not leave until we are full.”
Maintaining mental health requires keeping a distance and being moderate in relation to disorders related to age, gender, habits, social life, marital status, and professional status. In order to stay away from these, a person must ensure happiness and peace within their own inner world. The only way to do this is through remembrance of the Creator.
Remembrance: It has various meanings such as honor, prayer, and book (the Holy Quran). For remembrance to protect mental health, honor must be combined with faith, prayer with obedience, and the book with application in life.
ALLAH (swt) says:
These are the believers, whose hearts find peace in the remembrance of Allah. Know that it is in the remembrance of Allah that hearts find peace[85].[86]
The Use of Money
To know how to use money well, one must clearly define the purpose of its use and acquisition.
As a means of use, money should be defined solely as a tool for the conservation of possessions[87]. Otherwise, the existing money will begin to use its owner. Gaining importance along with it deprives a person of their values. In Islam, money is not a superiority, but a tool to be used, a responsibility given to its owner. This is also the reason why the rich are kept waiting to enter paradise.
Money enslaves people whose sole purpose is to consume. Those who worship money do not earn it through lawful means, nor do they spend it in lawful ways. With this lifestyle, the tools of use also change. Money is no longer the tool; people become the tool. This has always been the starting point of slavery. Such people will face disgrace in this world and severe punishment in the hereafter. Because they have given absolute power to money, not to Allah. Not recognizing it as a tool and acting accordingly leads people to stinginess and shirk.
Using it as a goal rather than a means also makes a person limitless and lawless.
ALLAH (swt) says:
O you who believe! Do not render your charity worthless by following it up with reminders or injury, like those who spend their wealth to be seen by people, not believing in Allah and the Last Day. Such a person is like a rock covered with soil, which is stripped bare by a heavy rain. They gain nothing from what they have earned. Allah does not guide the disbelieving people.[88]
The goal of earning is to ensure that it is done through lawful means. This is such an important matter that it affects not only the person who earns it, but also those under his responsibility.
Spending one’s lawful earnings on those under one’s responsibility encourages one’s spouse to be obedient, oneself to be content, and one’s child to be a righteous offspring. This is an important factor in shaping a person’s character. In the hereafter, it protects oneself and one’s family from torment.
ALLAH (c.c) says:
O you who believe, protect yourselves and your families from the fire whose fuel is men and stones. Over it are angels who are harsh and powerful. They do not disobey Allah in what He commands them, and they carry out what they are commanded. [89]
Earning money is closely related to a person’s deeds. If the income is earned through lawful means, the deeds will be righteous. However, money that is not earned through lawful means will ultimately lead to loss for its owner. The existence of money earned through lawful means prevents wastefulness, and its continuity protects worship from harm. It teaches not only how to determine the area of expenditure but also the purpose of earning for spending. For this reason, a person’s spending habits are a mirror that shows how they earn their money.
The primary reason for the destruction of individuals and states is reckless borrowing. The wisdom behind it being a cause of destruction is misuse or not being earned through lawful means. For this reason, interest is prohibited in Islam, and those who earn halal income are praised. Experience has proven that money earned through halal means has never been insufficient for its owner, never leaving them in need of other means. Its absence has never caused destitution. In particular, it has encouraged the repeated earning of money through halal means. With these characteristics, it will be the most beneficial thing for its owner on the Day of Judgment.
ALLAH (swt) says:
Indeed, those who do not hope to meet Us and are satisfied with the life of this world and are content with it, and those who are heedless of Our verses—it is they who will be in the Fire because of the sins they have earned.[90]
The Use of Time
The most important thing that distinguishes time from other elements is that it is acquired with existence. Since it is gained without effort, its value is generally not understood. Time is the property of the living, depleted at the expense of life. It is the only capital of man, which begins at birth and continues in a manner indexed to his breathing.
Time is a great account that will be asked of man. Without it, the world and the things in it have no meaning. That is why it makes the world and its contents appear beautiful. It is also condemned to flow continuously. The wisdom behind this is the necessity for man not to become emotionally attached to the things of the passing moment.
Using time is similar to using water, which has the property of fluidity. Water is a source of existence for those who know how to use it, but for those who do not, it is a cause of drowning and destruction. Knowing or not knowing how to use time is exactly the same. To use it well, you must first understand yourself and your environment as necessary. Without these, there is no time to use. Because this means that the given capital is being spent by someone else. Only when a person achieves their own formation without being influenced by others do they feel the need to use time well in determining their destiny or achieving their goal. For someone who believes in the world of trials, the only condition for winning is to use time well. The only condition for using time well is for the person to know their true self. These are related to knowing oneself and determining one’s destiny. If you cannot be yourself, the time you spend is not yours. Those who live like this do not use time as if it were their own.
They apply whatever is considered correct regarding their accepted destiny or personality. When they act on these truths, they waste time, their real capital, as if it were someone else’s property. To do this, they resort to ways of spending time as if they were spending someone else’s money. People who make payday their goal and constantly feel compelled to find things to kill time belong to this group. People who live their lives this way seek salvation within themselves because they have imprisoned their minds within their own desires. Because setting a goal that pleases the self means acting in accordance with that goal.
Since we cannot stop time, we must address the conditions related to the flow of time. We define these in three ways: order, balance, and harmony.
To be orderly, we must carefully analyze how our time passes. Otherwise, we will constantly encounter problems and spend our lives trying to solve them.
For balanced use, the concept of value must be fully developed. Our values are the links in the chain that best define our personality. For this reason, people build their lives around the things they value. From what people consider valuable, we learn what they value, and from what they value, we learn about their personality.
The colors and patterns of clothes bought with pleasure are full of data that defines the owner’s personality. When we consider a person who follows fashion when deciding to buy clothes, we see that they also derive their values from there. Since valuing creates values, we gain insight into the person’s personality through the clothes they buy and how they want to be remembered through the price they pay. Since fashion is constantly changing under the leadership of certain individuals, we learn that a person with this personality, in their effort to be remembered alongside valuable things, devalues their time in an unbalanced way.
Along with this analysis and these values, there is also a requirement to be in harmony when using time as a master. Harmony is both the proof and the reward of mastering time. All those who have made their mark on history have achieved victory as a result of adapting to their place and time.
Our Prophet (pbuh) said:
The wise person divides his time into four parts:
- Worship
- Self-accountability
- Enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil [91]
- Halal earnings
[82] Germ-free, pure and clean
[83] Health suitability
[84] An additive that is not dissolved, added to foods and keeps them together
[85] Reached satiety
[86] Surah Rad, Verse 28
[87] The right to own something and use it as one wishes
[88] Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 264
[89] Surah Al-Tahrim, Verse 6
[90] Surah Yunus, Verses 7–8
[91] Enjoining good and forbidding evil
